cecilia vega joins us live from the campus with what happened. cecilia? >> not much was affected at all by this gas leak. the rupture happened near these buildings behind me here. authorities just repaired the leak within the las 15 minutes or so so everything is definitely back to normal now. firefighters wer hereon the scene. pg&e crews were also out here working to repair this 2 inch gas line that runs through the southern edge of campus. this was reported before 8:00 this morning. authorities say it was likely ruptured by construction crewsw working on the new recreation and wellness center that's scheduled to open later this fall. now, he ruptured gas line is located near campus apartments. but there was no evacuation of any kind ordered. the wind blew gas it seems in the opposite direction of the dorm buildin most of the students voluntarily left that building to attend class. >> the lassrooms don't seem to be impacted at all for today being thfirst day of schoo since the gas is taken away with the prevailing winds. it's taken awa from the campus. e

it's fine with us. sir, tell us, i assume this is a sir. i don't know. tell us what you can about what you would imagine given pictures you're see something. >> yes. the caveat is that i'm watching your broadcast on television. i'm not at the scene. but having had some experience in flammable liquid and flammable gas fires, it appears from your coverage that this would be fueled by some type of pressurized gas whether natural gas or propane. you see a lot of smoke coming off. that smoke is probably, again, probably, from exposure that's have been caught on fire from this fireball, one of the reasons these are challenging is because if you do have natural gas that is on fire and you put it out without stopping or controlling the flow of the gas, what do you do with these explosives?
